I was appalled to see the picture of a long line of people so close to an unattended bag, seemingly oblivious to the potential harm that could be inflicted upon them if the bag were to contain explosives ("Panic over unattended bags at two places"; Tuesday).
The fact that the spot where the bag was had been cordoned off and was surrounded by policemen should have alerted people to quickly move away from the scene.
Shouldn't the police have cleared the crowd farther away from the scene, as a precautionary measure, while they investigated the unattended bag, especially in the light of recent bomb attacks, the latest of which was in nearby Jakarta?
