How can we do more to accord teachers due recognition and an important place in society?

Parents being respectful and supportive of teachers, even on difficult issues, will go a long way. Working hand in hand to guide the children in their growing-up stage, and phasing out the mindset of children/parents as customers will help. Teachers are not in the service line.

James Ong

How do we define a teacher? A teacher is our friend, philosopher and guide all moulded into one person. We will always be grateful for their support.

Teachers change the world one child at a time. A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of learning.

We should support them and appreciate them much more instead of taking them for granted.

Peter Tan

More pay and better job focus. Teachers should be paid more than doctors and lawyers for grooming the next generation.

Teachers today are expected to do too much... try teaching classes of 40 children back to back, then we know how tough it is for them.

I feel that they need more assistance in class. Give them a little more incentive (monetary or otherwise) if they are asked to do a job other than teaching, such as designing pamphlets, brochures or graphics for the school.
