Nominal charge for National Day carnival

Our flier's artwork might not have reflected that we are organising the National Day observance ceremony in conjunction with a National Day carnival ("Why charge for a National Day observance ceremony?" by Mr Francis Cheng; last Wednesday).

National Day is a time for all Singaporeans to celebrate our nation's birthday together.

We welcome everyone to our National Day Observance Ceremony, free of charge.

This year, in conjunction with the observance ceremony, we are also holding a National Day carnival, where our residents can enjoy many fun activities with their neighbours and family, and get refreshments and a goodie bag, for a nominal sum of $2.

Confirmed ticket sales also allow us to plan for the occasion, with minimal food and resource wastage.

We have received very good response and ticket sales from residents.

We share Mr Cheng's concern that the less fortunate in our midst should also have the opportunity to celebrate National Day.

Thanks to funds raised by our volunteers, we have set aside tickets to the carnival for our less fortunate residents.

We will continue to ensure that our events are all-inclusive and accessible to our residents.
