In a world beset with so much negative news, I was cheered by last Sunday's report ("Sick boy's wish to pat dogs comes true").

The advent of social media has linked us in an inextricable fashion not possible in the past.

In this case, the Golden Retriever Club-Singapore Facebook page mustered overwhelming support for a worthy cause, pulling together the animal-loving community to grant a sick boy's birthday wish.

This is truly an inspirational story and made my Sunday.
