How to save water: Use seawater

When I first visited Hong Kong more than 30 years ago, I noticed that they used seawater to flush their toilets instead of clean fresh water.

I thought it made a lot of sense and have always wondered why Singapore has never done the same.

Water for flushing the toilet and showering make up about a third of our daily consumption.

We would be able to cut down our daily water consumption drastically if we could use seawater to flush toilets.

I hope the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources will look into implementing it progressively as clean water will only become more and more scarce and expensive in the future.
