Migrant workers do so much for our country, yet, they seldom receive the credit that they deserve. We also fail to recognise that they, like us, may have interests outside of their work.
Foreign workers like Mr Md Mukul Hossine go through a lot just to land a job in Singapore ("He started scribbling poetry on bags of cement"; May 23).
Mr Mukul is truly an inspiration. He is a prime example of how we should never let our background or line of work confine our dreams and ambitions.
His poetry collection has unequivocally made a mark in Singapore's literary landscape.
It is a testament of how far a dream can take an individual, and how we can truly defy all odds to achieve our goals, as long as we hold on to a fiery passion, coupled with a dogged spirit.
