Enhancements to make SingPass use easier

We thank tech editor Irene Tham for her feedback on SingPass' two-step verification (also known as 2FA) process ("My SingPass obstacle course"; last Wednesday).

While the set-up process is similar to that of other organisations using services provided by SingPass 2FA service provider Assurity, we are improving the process based on public feedback received during this initial phase of implementation.

For example, we will be simplifying the two-step verification set-up process, while not compromising security.

By the end of December, users need only provide consent to sharing their SingPass information with Assurity.

They will then receive a PIN mailer for online activation at Assurity's website.

Their mobile numbers or OneKey tokens would then be automatically linked to their SingPass accounts, thereby completing the set-up process.

We will have public education campaigns to support users through these enhancements.

Users can contact the SingPass helpdesk (6643-0555 or support@singpass.gov.sg) if they need more help with the two-step verification process.
