Enforcement efforts protect law-abiding road users

There are three prongs to the Traffic Police's (TP) approach to enhance road safety - education, engagement and enforcement ("Instilling responsible driving better than installing more cameras" by Mr Jeffrey Law Lee Beng; last Monday).

Over the years, TP have conducted many outreach activities with the Singapore Road Safety Council and other community partners to educate and engage various parties on road safety in Singapore.

The "Use Your RoadSense" movement launched last year is one such initiative.

However, TP also need to take strict enforcement action against errant road users who flout traffic rules.

We need to enforce our rules and send a strong message to motorists who endanger other road users.

Nurturing a strong road safety culture is a long-term effort by TP working in partnership with the community.

Together, we can make our roads safer.
