Eating out a necessity now

There are many options for eating out in Singapore - hawker centres, coffee shops, foodcourts and restaurants.

Many people eat out at hawker centres these days as a necessity, as many work and do not have time to cook ("Why subsidise lifestyle choice of eating out?" by Mr Calvin Cheng Ern Lee; yesterday).

Restaurants would be considered a treat, but hawker centres are a staple, especially for low-income earners, who may have to work long hours to make ends meet.
