Don't shut out technology

Mr Pan Junwen has hit the nail on the head ("Valuers must embrace tech to raise their game"; last Friday).

If computers can be used for something as important as flying a plane, why are they not able to be used as a tool in arriving at a more scientific-based valuation on past transactions, analysis of relevant factors, and so on?

Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan has said in Parliament that the Government will provide the space for innovative start-ups such as Uber to help improve taxi services.

I am sure that he and his Cabinet colleagues, who are focusing on developing Singapore as a Smart Nation, will be supportive of technology businesses that offer alternatives to valuation in the property market, and not let vested interest hold consumers to ransom.
