Do our part to fight climate change

As participants from various countries constantly meet to come up with schemes and ideas to combat climate change, more has to be done by society at large.

Conferences, discussions and plans require active participation by people from all walks of life.

In Singapore, the Government aimed to use natural gas to generate 60 per cent of our energy needs, under the Singapore Green Plan 2012. By 2010, about 80 per cent of our electricity was generated by natural gas, surpassing the target.

This was done with the help of strong willpower and a desire to reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

This example clearly shows how attitude plays a crucial role in enabling climate action to be taken effectively.

Urgent action is needed to combat climate change and its impact. With resilience and awareness, we will be able to take appropriate measures to curb this critical issue.

Let us stand together and do our part to fight climate change.
