Consider huge costs of F1 race

Amid a slowing global economy, declining overall tourism spending and falling attendance for the Singapore Grand Prix, the Government needs to seriously consider whether it is still worth it to continue holding the Formula One race here when its current deal expires after next year's race ("F1 chief does U-turn on S'pore race"; Nov 22).

Each race costs $150 million to organise, with the Government co-funding 60 per cent of approved costs.
