I applaud SG Enable, an agency supporting people with disabilities, for commissioning the study on inclusion in the workplace, and for coming up with guiding principles on what counts as inclusion ("'Use stick, not just carrot' to spur hiring of disabled"; last Saturday).
Topics on inclusion in the workplace are seldom explored in depth. Such studies challenge the status quo and can sometimes come up with achievable solutions.
Some of the proposed ideas may not be deemed suitable at that point in time but they will definitely get people to be more aware of such issues, and, hopefully, trigger more action or campaigns at the national level.
More of such studies should be conducted regularly so that policies or services for people with disabilities can be improved and implemented.
