Almost everyone would agree that the postman who was dismissed for throwing away mail deserves to be punished (Postman dismissed for throwing away mail and returned letters; Feb 11).

He has no excuse for doing what he did.

Still, we should look into his complaints of being bullied at the workplace by supervisors, and not receiving compensation for working overtime.

Much as we do not want to condone such behaviour, we should investigate if there is any basis for his attitude.

I personally have encountered undelivered items without receiving a proper explanation from Singapore Post.

I believe issues like this may stem from disgruntled employees.

I hope Singapore does not develop a reputation for mistreating its workers.
