Cable car system could be way to link up Mandai

The reports on the future development of Mandai and its accessibility were an interesting read ("Mandai to be nature hub with five wildlife parks"; last Thursday, and "Getting to Mandai attractions tough without car or cab"; last Saturday).

Apart from other considerations, the authorities should perhaps consider linking the area to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve with a cable car system.

This could start from the newly completed Beauty World MRT station on Downtown Line 2 and stop at the top of Bukit Timah Hill.

Thence forward, the cable could extend all the way to the Mandai Zoo area. For this second stage, the cable cars would be travelling on top of lush greenery with fabulous views.

The top of Bukit Timah Hill offers excellent views. Unfortunately, not everybody can enjoy them because reaching the top is beyond the capability of most senior citizens, the very young and those with disabilities.

Once the cable car system is installed, I am certain it will appeal to many, both local residents and tourists, and make the attractions in Mandai more accessible as well.
