Bouquets: Help for woman trapped in stairwell

Help for woman trapped in stairwell

I thank Mr Razman, the officer who answered my call on the Singapore Civil Defence Force non-emergency service number 1777, for helping me on May 7.

I was a visitor to Westgate Tower and I entered the fire escape thinking I could walk to the next level via the stairs.

However, I discovered that I could not open the door to exit. I then walked down 12 storeys trying the door on each level, to no avail.

I decided to call for help but the only number I could think of calling was 1777.

It may not have been the appropriate number, but Mr Razman helped me to find the phone number to contact the Westgate security personnel, whom I then called and who came to let me out.

Afterwards, Mr Razman even called me back to check that I had made it out.

Polite and caring customer service

Recently, I had to postpone my Singapore Airlines flight from Seoul back to Singapore, as I was ill.

I subsequently managed to secure seats back to Singapore, though I encountered a booking issue while doing so.

I sent an e-mail to SIA on April 20 to provide feedback on the unpleasant experience.

On May 3, I received a call from Ms Rachael Tan, SIA's customer affairs manager.

She politely explained what happened with my booking and said SIA always does its best to meet customers' needs.

I was pleasantly surprised when she offered to send me a get well hamper that evening, as she realised that I had not recovered from my illness.

I compliment SIA and Ms Tan for their excellent customer service.
