Bouquets: Certis Cisco officers go beyond call of duty

Certis Cisco officers go beyond call of duty

I thank Certis Cisco officers Shahzudha Parveen and Muhd Farhan for helping my wife when she was injured in a fall.

My wife and I had been walking near the Singapore Island Country Club on Feb 9 when the accident happened.

The two officers, who were there on their routine duties, dashed towards us and provided first aid, and after that, gave us a lift to our car which was parked about 2km away.

Kudos to NHB for better lighting at memorial

Last October, I wrote in to the Forum about the need to provide adequate lighting at the Konfrontasi memorial (Light up Konfrontasi memorial in the evenings; Oct 14, 2017).

When I walked past the granite plaques last Friday, I found the area surrounding them to be beautifully lit - a contrast to the past when the area was shrouded in darkness.

That evening, I also saw several passers-by stopping to read the engraved text on the marker.

This will help both tourists and our young generation to learn more about our modern history.

They will be able to better appreciate the kind of sacrifices our forefathers had made for our nation during those turbulent years of the Konfrontasi and, hopefully, treasure the peace we now enjoy.

The National Heritage Board (NHB) must be praised for a job well done and also for its efficiency.
