Best end-of-life care for late mother

My heartfelt gratitude goes to the staff and volunteers of Dover Park Hospice for the excellent care they provided to my late mother last year.

There are so many examples of the sincerity behind their actions but I will cite just one.

On nights when my mother could not sleep, the nurses would hold her hand and patiently pat her to sleep.

My family and I are grateful for the love and compassion shown to my mother.

We also thank the volunteers at the hospice for taking the time to organise outings, conduct activities and provide massages for my mother. For a patient who used a wheelchair, these little acts brought much joy to her daily routine.

Thank you Dover Park Hospice staff and volunteers for your hard work in providing the best end-of-life care for terminally ill patients.

Kind man a big help after bike accident

I was out cycling over the weekend when my bike skidded just after the bridge which connects Gardens by the Bay to East Coast Park. The accident fractured my hip.

Just then, a man who was running stopped to help. He moved my bike to the side, washed my wounds with the drinking water he was carrying and made a call to my son and provided him with details of my location.

He made sure I was stable before he left.

I did not get his name or his contact number and was unable to thank the kind man. I hope he contacts me on reading this as I would like to thank him personally.

These are the real Singaporeans - people who take time out to stop and help a distressed person.

Superior service at TTSH and NUH

Recently, I was warded in Tan Tock Seng and then National University hospitals.

The medical technology at both places was first class.

But what impressed me most was that as a patient who could afford only the C Class ward, I was really given A Class service by everyone, from the doctors and nurses to the helpers who delivered the meals.

Besides my fellow Singaporeans who have chosen to serve in the medical profession, I also wish to express my gratitude to those from different countries for their great contribution to the healthcare service in Singapore.

Stranger goes the distance to return IC

I write to commend a total stranger who took the effort to return my son's identity card .

Madam Rose, together with a younger woman, came to my house specially to return the identity card which was lost at my son's work place a week earlier.

As Hari Raya Aidilfitri is nearing, I want to thank and wish Madam Rose and her family Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Your kindness truly lights up someone's heart.
