Bedok murder suspect left S'pore before police were alerted

We thank Ms Amy How for her letter (Is cooperation between agencies effective?; July 1).

The police work closely with other government agencies to bring all perpetrators of crime to justice.

This includes working with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to stop persons-of-interest from leaving Singapore via our checkpoints.

In the case of the murder of the elderly couple in Bedok Reservoir Road on June 21, the suspect had left Singapore using her passport well before the case was reported to the police.

The police are working with the Indonesian authorities on the case. We are unable to comment further, as investigations are ongoing.
