Be considerate as pedestrians, too

Singapore's roads may be considered very safe, although accidents - which can be avoided - do still occur at times.

Sometimes, it is partly the fault of pedestrians. Many pedestrians, especially young people, have their eyes glued to their phones while crossing the road.

Some students also cross busy road junctions while bouncing a basketball. This is dangerous, as not only are these students not paying attention to the road, but they may trip over or lose their grip on the ball. A rolling ball is a safety hazard on the road.

These behaviours endanger not only these pedestrians but people around them as well.

All pedestrians should take responsibility for their own actions and think of others before themselves.
