It was with shock and anxiety that Singaporeans saw Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong suddenly taking ill while delivering the National Day Rally speech ("Anxiety, then relief, as PM completes rally after taking ill"; yesterday).
We were all really happy to see him back on stage, smiling, with the audience at the rally giving him a rousing applause and standing ovation.
True to the Singaporean spirit, the Prime Minister did not allow the unexpected incident to halt his speech.
He chose to continue to speak, with strength and determination.
This is an example for all Singaporeans that we must not let any setback hamper our progress.
However, I urge PM Lee not to overexert himself.
His health matters to all Singaporeans.
