Commuters wishing to switch from Downtown Line 2 to the North-South Line at Newton MRT station are given merely 15 minutes to tap out of the gates at the former station before tapping in again at the latter station, in order for the whole journey to be considered a single trip ("Exit and re-enter on two DTL2 transfers"; yesterday).
Fifteen minutes should be sufficient for most of us, but may prove a challenge for the elderly and those with disabilities.
Would it be possible for the authorities to give, say, an additional 15 minutes for those who tap out using a senior citizens ez-link card?
This would be similar in concept to the longer period of "green-man time" given when such a card is tapped at certain pedestrian crossings located throughout the island.
