WHO: Chan Cheng Lin, 27, graduate student.

MY FAMILY: I live with my parents, who are in their 50s, my grandmother, 90, and our family dog.

MY HOME: A semi-detached house in East Coast.

MY PASSION: Reading.

I STARTED WRITING TO THE FORUM PAGE...: In 2009.

WHAT I WRITE ABOUT: Singapore's history and heritage, education system, politics and social integration, among other issues.

WHY I WRITE: As a Singaporean, I feel obliged to participate in public discussions on issues affecting our society, and share suggestions on how to make Singapore a better home for all of us.

I READ THE FORUM PAGE BECAUSE...: I wish to know the diverse opinions of Singaporeans from all walks of life on national issues, and their hopes and dreams for Singapore.

MY WISH FOR SINGAPORE: I hope Singaporeans will cultivate an appreciation for our nation's rich history and multicultural heritage, which is essential for us to develop and maintain a strong national identity beyond SG50.
