Tell us why you are Singapore's biggest Disney Cruise Line fan.
I am Singapore’s biggest Disney Cruise Line fan – and possibly its most emotional one – because I have already cried over a ship I have not even boarded yet. When the Disney Adventure was announced as the first Disney Cruise Line ship homeported in Asia, right here in Singapore, it felt like more than just a cruise. It felt as though Disney magic had chosen my home.
I have teared up at the advertisements in ION Orchard. I have stared at Disney Cruise Line buses as though they were royalty driving past. And yes, I genuinely became emotional when my local bus 238 played the Disney Cruise horn instead of the usual bell. I pressed it, heard “When You Wish Upon a Star” and suddenly public transport became a core memory.
That is how much Disney Cruise Line means to me.
I have watched many Disney Cruise Line vlogs of the Dream, Wish and Destiny, hoping I would get to sail one day. What I love most is that it is not simply a holiday – it is storytelling at sea. Seven themed areas. Character moments with Captain Mickey and Minnie. San Fransokyo Street with Baymax (my car is literally named after him). A roller coaster at sea. Fireworks inspired by The Lion King, which is practically my personality – my ROM ring is Lion King-themed and my dog is named Nala.
As a Singaporean, seeing Asian and Pacific flavours intentionally included on board – from teppanyaki and omakase at Mike & Sulley’s - Flavors of Asia to Indian and Pacific-inspired dishes – makes it even more meaningful. It is Disney magic, yet it feels like us too.
My husband and I are budding Disney content creators, documenting our love for Disney on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube – in fact, we are heading to Disney World next week. We are also having our church wedding in Singapore this year. Experiencing Disney Cruise Line for the first time on the Disney Adventure would be our honeymoon, our first cruise and the culmination of tears that began on bus 238.
If loving Disney Cruise Line means becoming emotional over a cruise horn in the middle of Singapore, then I proudly accept the title.
Who would you like to experience the Disney Adventure cruise with and why?
I would love to experience the Disney Adventure with my newlywed husband, and I would also like to bring my grandmother along.
My husband is my Disney soulmate and this cruise would be our honeymoon – we have had our ROM and will be holding our church wedding in Singapore. We are like Carl and Ellie from Up – in fact, our initials are C and E. We are always ready for an adventure.
Beginning our marriage on the first Disney Cruise Line ship homeported in Asia feels like the most magical way to start our next chapter, right here in the country I call home.
He grew up visiting Walt Disney World but has never experienced Disney Cruise Line. During an extremely trying period with my health, he was my rock. He cared for me, sat with me through the difficult days and always had a Disney film ready to play, placing Disney plush toys around my bed for cuddles because he knew those stories brought comfort. When I finally got better, he surprised me with my first trip to Walt Disney World. It was his way of bringing magic back into my life.
It would mean so much to be the one to tell him we are going on the Disney Adventure – to give him the same joy he once gave me.
Just as importantly, I would want my 87-year-old grandmother there with us.
She is like a mother to me. She raised me. We grew up watching Disney films together in our living room in Singapore – glued to animated classics such as Toy Story, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid on VHS tapes that we would rewind and replay because I wanted to watch my favourite scenes again and again. We would sit side by side on the sofa, singing along, laughing and sometimes crying.
Disney was our little bubble – a place where the world felt lighter, even if only for an evening.
We recently lost my grandfather and I have seen how much her world has changed. She has not travelled abroad in a long time and has never experienced Disney magic in person.
My grandmother is a Pioneer who lived through Singapore’s most difficult years. She has seen what Singapore once was, so watching Disney Cruise Line choose Singapore as its first homeport in Asia feels like a beautiful reminder of how far our little island has come.
What I love about Disney Cruise Line is that it recreates that same bubble we had in our living room, but on a grander scale. At sea, you are surrounded by storytelling, music, characters and joy. The outside world fades for a while and you are fully immersed in something magical.
I would love to bring her into that bubble again – not just on a sofa with a VHS tape, but under the open sky, hearing the music she once watched on a screen come to life.
It is a honeymoon, though not in the usual sense. In many ways, this trip would feel like our own Circle of Life moment – from rewinding The Lion King in our living room to hearing it beneath fireworks at sea.
That feels like the most beautiful circle of all.
