Abe to unveil new stimulus package

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will announce a package of new spending measures today to boost the economy, the Nikkei newspaper reported. He will probably give details of the measures at a press conference the same day that Japan's 96.7 trillion yen (S$1.2 trillion) Budget for fiscal 2016 is expected to become law, the newspaper reported.

New dialysis centre in Jurong West

The National Kidney Foundation's newest dialysis centre in Jurong West will be officially opened later this morning. It has already started offering nocturnal dialysis, and patients who require longer dialysis will benefit from this additional shift. With its 18 dialysis stations, the new centre will be able to treat 164 needy patients at any one time.

San Francisco Fed chief to share views

Dr John Williams, president and chief executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, will present his views on the future of the United States' monetary policy and the global economic outlook at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy today. Dr Williams serves on the Federal Open Market Committee, bringing the Fed's 12th district's perspective to monetary policy discussions in Washington.
