Upbeat economic data from US fuels STI's climb to a 28-month high

Share prices on the Singapore bourse rose with the benchmark Straits Times Index finishing Wednesday at a 28-month high of 3,313.03 after gaining 24.5 points or 0.8 per cent.

A good showing in Wall Street overnight plus upbeat economic data from the world's largest economy, the United States, fuelled positive sentiments among investors across the Asian markets.

Gainers led losers 266 to 168 while 354 counters were unchanged. Turnover stood at 3.00 billion shares worth $1.53 billion.
