The total value of securities traded on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) rose to $30.3 billion in September, 6 per cent more than the same month a year ago, the bourse reported on Thursday.

This was due to one more trading day in September this year compared with last year, it said.

Turnover on the Catalist board rose five times year-on-year to $2.9 billion, while funds raised from bond listings increased 28 per cent from a year ago to $22.8 billion.

Meanwhile, derivatives trading continued to grow in September. The total number of derivatives contracts traded rose 26 per cent over last year to 8.9 million, buoyed by a doubling in the volume of China A50 Index Futures traded, the SGX said.
