StarHub announces management changes

TELCO StarHub announced yesterday that it has revamped its management team.

Mr Dennis Chia will be the new chief financial officer (CFO), Mr Howie Lau will take over as chief marketing officer, and the newly created role of chief strategic partnerships officer will be filled by Ms Jeannie Ong.

The changes will take effect on July 8.

Mr Chia will move from semi-conductor firm Stats ChipPAC (Worldwide), where he is senior vice-president and CFO.

As well as overseeing StarHub's finances, he will help to develop and execute strategy. He replaces Mr Nicholas Tan, who resigned in April.

Mr Lau, vice-president of corporate development at Lenovo's Worldwide Finance Organisation, will chart StarHub's brand and marketing strategies and oversee the telco's Entertainment and SmartLife and Media Business Unit divisions as chief marketing officer.

Ms Ong, the current chief marketing officer, will move on to lead efforts to establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, content and strategic partners and other entities in her new role as chief strategic partnerships officer. She will relinquish her marketing role but continue to be responsible for building StarHub's reputation in the areas of corporate communications, investor relations and corporate sustainability.

Under her leadership, StarHub was named brand of the year and Ms Ong was named client of the year (brand steward) at the Hall of Fame Awards last year.
