StanChart launches new app aimed at SMEs

Standard Chartered Bank has launched a mobile application aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) get the latest news and information at their fingertips.

Users of the Breeze Biz app can customise their own news feed, which will show them stories from various partners including The Straits Times.

StanChart will also upload articles written by its own global research team onto the app and share postings of local networking and educational events organised by the bank and associations such as the Singapore Business Federation and the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Another function provides basic advice based on the profile of the SME and its owner. Calculators for things such as loan installments and mortgages will be made available so users can better manage their working capital and even plan for expansion.

Ms Kavita Bedi, StanChart's regional head of SME banking for Singapore and Southeast Asia said: "As the largest international banking partner to local SMEs, we understand that the needs of SMEs are evolving, and they expect a holistic banking relationship beyond traditional bank financing."

The free app is compatible with both Apple and Android's operating systems.
