ST Engineering's electronics unit clinched $593 million in new orders in 4Q 2013

The electronics arm of mainboard listed Singapore Technologies Engineering won $593 million worth of new orders in the fourth quarter of last year.

The company said on Monday that the contracts clinched by ST Electronics range from rail electronics and intelligent transportation systems to satellite and broadband communications among others.

One of the contracts is for automatic fare collection and platform screen door systems for one of Bangkok's train lines. Other projects are for some of the train lines in China and Taiwan.

Work on these projects have started and will be completed by 2017.

Separately, ST Electronics also announced awards that it received for its leadership as well as technologies and innovation.

For example, its AgilFence Perimeter Intrusion System came out tops at the Conference of the Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations in Jakarta.

It received the Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award during the conference.
