Singtel makes key leadership appointments to strengthen management team

SINGAPORE - Singtel is making two appointments to its leadership team which oversees strategic direction and execution for the group.

Mr Mark Chong will be appointed group chief technology officer to lead technology strategy and innovations, while Mr Arthur Lang will be appointed Singtel's chief executive officer International - responsible for the growth of the Group's regional associates across India, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, the company said in a release on Thursday (Nov 24).

Mr Lang will join the Group on Jan 9, 2017, as CEO International (designate).

Both Mr Lang and Mr Chong will join the management committee from April 1, 2017, alongside Mr Samba Natarajan, CEO Group Digital Life.

"Given our global aspirations and a fast evolving business and technology landscape, we are reinforcing our leadership team as we prime our enterprise for our next phase of growth," Singtel Group CEO Chua Sock Koong said.

Meanwhile, Mr Tay Soo Meng will retire as Group CTO after almost 50 years of service. Having been instrumental in helping Singtel secure network leadership in Singapore and enhancing network coverage in Australia, Mr Tay will take on an advisory role so that Singtel can continue to tap his wealth of experience and knowledge, the release added.
