SINGAPORE - Attention to health details during the pandemic saw local company The Ascott become the first hospitality company in the world to offer guests complimentary health, wellness and security support.

In May, it announced a partnership with International SOS, a health and security services firm, to provide telehealth, telecounselling and travel security advisory.

Such amenities, among others, have paid off for Ascott which was named the World's Leading Serviced Apartment Brand at the grand final of World Travel Awards 2021 that was held virtually last Thursday (Dec 16).

The company, a wholly owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Investment, runs about 790 properties in 30 countries.

In October, it bagged 27 accolades at the regional World Travel Awards 2021, including Leading Serviced Apartment Brand in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Oceania.

Some of these serviced apartments include Ascott Raffles City Chengdu in China, La Clef Champs-Elysées Paris in France, Ascott Park Place Dubai and Quest NewQuay Docklands in Melbourne, Australia.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Ascott's chief executive Kevin Goh said: "To be recognised during such extraordinary times is a strong validation of our quality lodging properties, as well as Ascott's efforts to provide a haven for all our guests, a safe home away from home."

He noted that it has added seven hotel brands to form a network of 14 brands on its new online platform and is on the way to achieve a record number of new units signed this year and the highest ever property openings.

"These are testaments of a resilient team, who in the harshest of winters never lost sight of spring. We are excited to bring this positive momentum forward into 2022 and continue to deliver more of what Ascott has to offer," he said.

To celebrate the victory, Ascott is giving away up to 28 million Ascott Star Rewards bonus points to members of its loyalty programme, till Dec 31.
