Singapore stocks up 0.2% at midday

Singapore shares rose slightly by midday on Monday, in tandem with gains made across the regional bourses and in the gold and silver markets.

The local bourse climbed 7.26 points, or 0.22 per cent by midday to 3,237.16.

Some 1.56 billion shares had changed hands, worth $597 million.

Shares in Noble Group continued to dive and have neared a four-year low, after the company reported weaker-than-expected earnings. It was down half a cent in morning trading to 91 cents.

Oilfield service firm Ezion Holdings, meanwhile, hit a record high on strong results, rising six cents to $2.44.

The most actively traded stock was GSH Corp, which gained 0.1 cent to 7.5 cents.
