Singapore stocks end 0.7 per cent higher

Singapore shares have continued their recent winning streak, rising 21.74 points, or 0.7 per cent, to close at 3,116.22.

The strong close was in line with rallies across Asia, as data from the United States showed that the world's biggest economy had grown by a faster-than-expected 4.1 per cent in the third quarter.

The good news was further bolstered by an announcement from the International Monetary Fund that it is raising its outlook for the US economy.

However, losers slightly outnumbered gainers at home, 195 to 193, with 2.3 billion shares worth $660.2 million changing hands.

Charisma Energy was the top active, rising 0.1 cent to 7.1 cents, with 393 million shares swapped.
