Singapore shares were up slightly by midday, taking the lead from a buoyant Tokyo, where an optimistic forecast for the Japanese economy is providing some boost to the market.
The Bank of Japan released minutes of its July meeting on Tuesday, saying it expected moderate growth in the economy.
The local benchmark Straits Times Index had risen 9.95 points, or 0.31 per cent, by midday to 3,242.19.
Some 930.2 million shares worth $450.4 million had changed hands.
Gainers outnumbered losers 171 to 150.
Noble Group continued to tumble, dropping a cent to 89 cents after posting disappointing results.
Fellow commodities player Golden Agri Resources was also a hotly traded stock, falling a cent to 51 cents.
