Singapore shares inch up 0.1% by midday

Shares on the Singapore bourse edged up in morning trading on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index gaining 3.8 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 3,240.8 by 1.50pm.

Counters that rose outweighed those that fell 180 to 155, with 464 others unchanged.

A total of 1.23 billion shares changed hands, worth $673.1 million in all.

Among top gainers was City Developments, up 11 cents to $10.75, while top losers included Singapore Airlines, which shed 14 cents to $10.08.
