Singapore shares higher by 0.6 per cent at mid-session

The Singapore market was trading higher at slightly before noon on Tuesday, with the Straits Times Index up 19.08 points or 0.6 per cent to 3,174.55.

Across the market, gainers outnumbered losers 195 to 100.

Some 729 million shares worth $365 million had changed hands.

Traders said the local market was tracking overnight gains on Wall Street, which had come after the United States corporate earnings season got off to a bright start.
