Shares on the Singapore stock exchange inched up 0.1 per cent by midday on Monday, gaining less than 4 points to 3,239.8 by 12.30pm.

A total of 1.1 billion shares changed hands in morning trading, worth $441.4 million in all.

Gainers surpassed losers 162 to 143, with 492 counters unchanged. Top advancers included UOB, up 21 cents to $21.09, while among the top losers was City Developments, shedding 15 cents to $10.83.
