Singapore shares 0.4% ahead by midday trade

The Singapore market was higher by 12.10pm on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index ahead by 12.07 points or 0.37 per cent to 3,236.96.

Index gainers included StarHub, which rose 10 cents or 2.3 per cent to $4.37. On Tuesday the telco reported a 16 per cent jump in net profit to $101 million in its second quarter.

Across the market, gainers outnumbered losers 163 to 137.

Local shares were outperforming the region, with many Asian markets in the red. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index was down by 1 per cent, dragged down by the Tokyo market.
