Singapore inflation rises to 2% in October

Singapore's inflation came in at 2 per cent in October over the same month last year, up from 1.6 per cent in September.

From January to October, prices rose 2.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2012, according to the Department of Statistics on Monday.

Food prices rose 2.5 per cent in October, over the same month last year, while housing prices were up 1.1 per cent.

Transport prices increased 2.3 per cent, while healthcare was up 3.7 per cent.

Core inflation, which excludes accommodation and private road transport prices, rose to 1.8 per cent last month from 1.7 per cent in September.
