The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCCI) is urging the Government to continue extending aid to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over the next few years, as these businesses are still in the midst of raising their productivity.
In its wishlist for the upcoming Budget 2014, the chamber called on the Government to ensure that their assistance plans, such as the Productivity and Innovation Credit (PIC) scheme, are continued for the next three years.
"Many SMEs are embarking on their productivity and transformation journey. Given the better awareness, government should continue these programmes and incentives, especially for the small and micro-enterprises," said SCCCI president Thomas Chua.
The chamber also urged the Government to provide affordable industrial and commercial space or rental rebates for SMEs.
