Property firm PropNex is now the country's largest real estate agency following a surge in the numbers of agents joining the firm from its merger partner, Dennis Wee Group (DWG).
About 88 per cent of active DWG sales staff who earned at least $50,000 a year have signed up with the agency since last month's merger announcement, noted PropNex yesterday. DWG had 1,063 agents.
PropNex now has 6,688 agents, according to the Council for Estate Agencies, ahead of ERA Realty's 6,176 and the 3,129 at Huttons Asia.
"Since the announcement of the merger, many agencies went all out to woo the (DWG) salespersons to join them," said PropNex chief executive Ismail Gafoor, and "ultimately, 88 per cent ... chose to pursue their real estate careers with PropNex".
"We are committed to continuously provide great opportunities and support for our newly joined salespersons to help them reach their potential professionally."
