Panel to discuss Singapore start-up scene with aspiring entrepreneurs

SINGAPORE - The local chapter of India's Jadavpur University alumni is holding a panel discussion on start-up infrastructure available in Singapore to aspiring entrepreneurs.

JU Alumni Association, Singapore chapter (JUAAS) in collaboration with NCE Bengal Alumni association will hold the event on Thursday (Nov 10) at TKP Conference Centre at Raffles Place.

The event will be inaugurated by Acting High Commissioner of India, Mrs Paramita Tripathi, and will be attended by veterans of the startup ecosystem including investors, incubators and entrepreneurs, who will share their stories and experiences at the discussion.

"The discussion will focus on Singapore entrepreneurial ecosystem, identify key opportunity sectors in Asia and benefits of anchoring one's business in Singapore," said JUASS president Mr Nilanjan Sen.

Panelists include Mr Stanley Samuel - founder and chief executive of water management firm Ecosoftt, JU Alumnus Mr Rakesh Malhotra - founder and chairman of home electric company Luminous Power Technologies and Mr Sebastian Voss, cofounder and chief executive of Singapore-based product management start-up Instant Edge.

Attendees will be encouraged to interact and mingle fellow professionals to find like-minded collaborators, network with investors and incubators.

"The discussion will help update aspiring enterprenuers about the start-up challenges ,it will help them learn from the panelists' experiences and stories," JUAAS general secretary Debananda Ghosh said.

Jadavpur University is a premier educational institute in India's West Bengal state. JUAAS was established in 2014 by approximately 100 members from different folds of Singapore's society with common ties to their alma mater.
