NOL unit APL announces change in organisational structure

Neptune Orient Lines unit APL has undergone a reorganisation that will move the container shipping company from a geographically-divided organisational structure divisions to a functional one.

The business will now be divided along the lines of trade, commercial, operations, procurement, and planning and strategy, the company said on Thursday.

A new APL leadership team has also been formed and will be effective from Feb 10. The members of the new team are: chief commercial officer Peter Jongepier, chief trade officer Calvin Leong, chief operations officer Nathaniel Seeds and chief procurement officer Jason Wong.

The leadership team will be led by APL president Kenneth Glenn.

"The container shipping industry is undergoing profound changes, characterised by low growth and intense competition," said Mr Glenn, who added that the changes were made so the company can respond more quickly to the market and to customers.
