Lim Swee Say, Lawrence Wong lead business delegation to Sichuan

SINGAPORE government and business leaders are in the Chinese province of Sichuan to deepen ties and explore further business opportunities.

Led by Mr Lim Swee Say, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, and Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, and Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information, the 41-member delegation is visiting the cities of Luzhou and Chengdu.

On July 3, Mr Wong will co-chair the 15th Singapore- Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee (SSTIC) meeting with Sichuan vice-governor Gan Lin.

The meeting will review collaboration initiatives in the past year, and discuss new partnership areas in the coming year.

Mr Lim and Sichuan governor Wei Hong, who are advisers to the committee, will also attend the meeting.

It will be the first time Mr Wei is meeting Mr Lim and Mr Wong in his capacity as Sichuan governor and SSTIC Sichuan adviser. He was previously the executive vice-governor of Sichuan.

Organised by International Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore secretariat for the SSTIC, the four-day business mission will explore opportunities beyond the regional city centre of Chengdu.
