Keppel T&T exploring data centre Reit

Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation (Keppel T&T) is looking into the setting-up of a real estate investment trust (Reit) for its data centres.

It stated in an announcement to the Singapore Exchange (SGX) on Friday that the properties forming the portfolio of the Reit are still under review.

Other details, like the size of the offering and when the Reit may be listed on the mainboard of the SGX, have also not been finalised.

Keppel T&T said the establishment and listing of the Reit will be subject to market conditions and regulatory approvals.

Its data centre segment is one of two core businesses for the firm, the other being the logistics unit.

It now owns and manages two data centres in Singapore. It said previously that work on the development of a third data centre here "is progressing well."

Keppel T&T, together with AEP Investment Management, have set up the Shariah-compliant data centre fund, Securus Data Property Fund.

The fund invests in a global portfolio of data centre assets, including in Australia, Ireland and Malaysia.

Together with its investment in Securus, Keppel T&T owns and manages a portfolio of nine data centres.
