My daughter, who just finished her second year at a local university, has secured her first serious internship - one at a government organisation that will keep her busy for the next three months.

She is far from alone. What used to be the "summer holidays" has become internship season, not just for university undergraduates but also students at polytechnics. We even have internships for hawkers and those with special needs.
