Investors were glad to see the back of 2018 after those wild last few months, but with so much uncertainty still around, it is not clear yet whether this year will be one of risks or opportunities.

Early signs are positive: Markets have taken on a more upbeat note so far with the benchmark Straits Times Index closing at 3,188.68 points on Friday, up 3.9 per cent since Dec 31.
