SGX needs to give a bigger lift to small investors

Increase safeguards for minority shareholders and attract new listings - these may help bring retail participation back to the stock market

For a long time, my preferred investment destination has been the stock market. But it dawned on me recently that this isn't the case any more as I sifted through the hotchpotch holdings in my stock portfolio.

Last year I went to the market only four times and bought a modest amount of shares. I sold nothing. Ten years ago, my transactions were around 10 times more.
