Dr Marc-Olivier Buffle, 47, specialises in sustainable and thematic investing but before joining the asset management industry, he started an engineering career by leading a research and development (R&D) team focusing on water treatment technologies.

He has authored patents, scientific articles, and technical and financial publications. He is also a member of Pictet Group's sustainability board.
